The Problem
Our oceans are facing an unprecedented crisis. The cumulative impacts of heating, pollution, acidification, and oxygen depletion present grave threats to the ocean's health and the diverse life forms that inhabit it. These challenges resonate across the entire spectrum of marine ecosystems, affecting every living being that calls this vast planetary resource home.
Our precious Marine Life is facing an imminent CRISIS and is in desperate need of help. The threats are multifaceted and relentless, with dire consequences for a wide array of marine creatures.
Seabirds and Marine Mammals are falling victim to devastating algal blooms and toxic chemicals, while the ingestion of plastic and entanglement in fishing gear further compounds their plight. Thousands of Seabirds and marine creatures are tragically falling victim to the devastating consequences of offshore drilling, oil spills, and oil seepage. These incidents have created catastrophic environmental disasters, resulting in the widespread contamination and loss of precious marine life. Sea turtles are tragically ensnared in lobster nets, while Manta Rays are ruthlessly hunted for their meat. Sea Turtles and many other marine life are also subjected to senseless killings for their meat and shells, while sharks teeter on the brink of extinction, primarily due to the relentless demand for their fins.
Tragedy strikes in the form of ship strikes and noise pollution, leading to the deaths of majestic whales. Moreover, the haunting echoes of Dolphin hunts, such as the infamous Taiji dolphin drive hunt in Japan, persist as Dolphins are herded into confined bays to be slaughtered or captured for their meat. The grim reality of commercial whale hunting looms over countries like Japan, Iceland, and Norway.
International laws designed to protect our marine life are proving inadequate, particularly when it comes to addressing threats like large-scale hunts, and commercial fishing, which often results in the callous discard of 'bycatch'—a tragic consequence that includes the needless injury and death of thousands of sea turtles, seabirds, and marine mammals each year.
The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated. We are resolutely dedicated to taking action and being a voice for our Marine Life. We are committed to raising awareness about these critical issues and advocating tirelessly for the preservation of our precious Marine Life.
Our Approach
Our Ocean Conservation program illuminates the devastating consequences of fishing, offshore oil drilling, deep sea mining, ocean pollution, climate change, ocean acidification, the insidious spread of plastic pollution, and a host of other threats that jeopardize our precious wildlife and the delicate balance of our oceans.
Our educational efforts extend to individuals, where we strive to elucidate the repercussions of overfishing, offshore oil drilling, climate change, ocean acidification, plastic pollution, and other threats to wildlife.
