Honoring the Magnificent Persian Leopard ‘Batifa’ Through the Arts on International Leopard Day

On this International Leopard Day, we are honored to share a sketch of our upcoming Wildlife Jewels painting—a tribute to Batifa, a rare and majestic Persian Leopard rescued in Northern Iraq.

Batifa endured unimaginable suffering after being caught in a leg trap for 10 days. Though he was rescued and treated, the severity of his injuries led to a leg amputation, making it impossible for him to return to the wild. He now lives in a small, cold enclosure, but dedicated efforts are underway to help him find a better, more compassionate sanctuary.

This painting is part of our new collection honoring Batifa, the precious Persian Leopard, and raising awareness about his journey and the growing threats facing Persian Leopards in the wild. Through creativity and compassion, we aim to illuminate his story and inspire action—to help secure a safe, enriched life for Batifa in a sanctuary, and a safer future for Leopards in the wild.

Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes glimpses as we begin this painting, and for the full reveal of the finished piece—plus ways you can support this invaluable effort.

We will unveil Batifa’ Collection soon! We’ll be sharing his collection through our Wildlife Jewels Collections and Meet Our Jewels initiatives.
