EYES® Solana Beach — Coastal Wildlife Education & Community Science
A Wildlife Jewels program
EYES® Solana Beach helps neighbors observe wildlife safely, document coastal hazards, and route reports to authorized responders—supporting seabirds, shorebirds, and other coastal species along Solana Beach.
Why Solana Beach
Beloved, busy beaches meet sensitive wildlife. Education and quick, appropriate reporting reduce preventable harm (e.g., fishing-line entanglements, debris, tar, disturbance, toxin events).
What we do
Guided education walks & mini-trainings: safe viewing, quick ID, don’t-feed guidance, who to contact
Community-science observations: note location, photograph from a distance, document hazards (line/hooks, plastic, tar)
Rapid outreach during local wildlife events (alerts, prevention tips)
Monthly snapshots of hazards/hot spots shared with partners
Important: EYES is an education & community-science program. We do not handle marine mammals; those cases are referred to designated responders. Rescue/transport for permitted birds/small mammals is managed separately by the Wildlife Jewels Rescue Crew.
