Wildlife Jewels at the San Diego Natural History Museum’s Weekends of Wonder: Oceans — Wildlife Jewels’ “Arts of Wildlife“ educational coastal and marine wildlife art display at The Nat, Sunday June 14

Thank you to The Nat for having Wildlife Jewels at Weekends of Wonder: Oceans! 💙

Wildlife Jewels was delighted to share ocean-life-inspired works of art from the Wildlife Jewels collections, including Green Tourmaline the Sea Turtle, a painting and wearable art gown from the Wildlife Jewels Collections inspired by kelp forests and ocean life. The gown features appliqué details of a green sea turtle, purple sea urchins, embellished sunflower sea stars, and flowing kelp-like elements that celebrate the beauty and diversity of our coastal ecosystems.

We also shared pieces from the Wildlife Jewels Arts of Wildlife Collection, featuring local sea lions, pelicans, Western Gull chicks, and Elegant Terns—wildlife we have had the privilege of observing, monitoring, advocating for, and, in some cases, helping through rescue and response efforts along our coast.

Throughout the day, we enjoyed conversations about ocean life, marine debris, coastal wildlife, and ways community members can help protect the wildlife and habitats that make Southern California’s coastline so special.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our exhibit, participated in the art activity, and shared their enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation. We are grateful to The Nat for creating opportunities that connect people with nature through science, education, and art.

It was a beautiful and inspiring day celebrating our ocean and the wildlife whose lives depend on its health. 🐢✨

Visitors of all ages participated in an interactive drawing activity, where they were invited to choose a coastal animal, learn about the species while drawing, and connect more deeply with the wildlife that shares our beaches, bluffs, and ocean. Through art, participants explored the unique characteristics, behaviors, and conservation challenges facing the animals they were creating.
