Help Us Protect Marine Life Like This Adorable Seal Pup!

We absolutely adored this precious seal pup during our recent EYES monitoring at La Jolla Children’s Pool. Seal pups are especially vulnerable in their early weeks—they need to rest, nurse, and grow without human disturbance.

Getting too close, trying to touch, or chasing seals into the water can cause stress, separate them from their group or young, and even lead to injury. Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), it’s illegal to harass, feed, touch, or disturb any marine mammal in the wild. “Harassment” includes any action that disrupts natural behaviors like resting, nursing, or sheltering, and can harm their health or survival. These protections are enforced by NOAA Fisheries and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to keep seals and other marine life safe.

She’s now part of Wildlife Jewels’ Collections of featured wildlife, raising awareness for seals and their protection.
