In the Field with OARRA: Monitoring Ocean Wildlife and Coastal Conditions

California Sea Lions, March 12, 2026

Last week, Wildlife Jewels joined Ocean Animal Response and Research Alliance (OARRA) on a Survey & Monitoring trip to observe the majestic ocean animals of the California coast, the habitats they depend on, and the environmental conditions around them.

Each observation contributes to a larger picture of wildlife health, habitat use, behavior, and human impact — valuable field data that can help inform conservation and protect ocean life.

OARRA’s work helps advance marine wildlife monitoring, response, and understanding of environmental threats.

It was inspiring to witness and support this invaluable work in the field.
