Meet Malaya Garnet — a precious Allen’s hummingbird we recently had the delight of observing! This Saturday, Wildlife Jewels is celebrating Malaya and all the magical hummingbirds from around the world in honor of National Hummingbird Day.
We’ll be planting native flowers that support hummingbirds, sharing their stories, and educating the community about these precious jewels—all at the beautiful Sunset Ridge Park in Newport Beach.

Inspiring Day! We planted flowers for hummingbirds & butterflies, learned about the native plants they love, explored fascinating facts about hummingbirds & butterflies, innovations inspired by them, the major threats they face, and how to protect them. We also had the chance to witness two precious rescued hummingbird in care, admired hummingbird & butterfly-inspired fine art, and enjoyed delicious cupcakes!

Plant for Hummingbirds returns! 🌿 We’re excited to bring back one of our favorite hands-on programs at Wildlife Jewels’ World Wildlife Day!
Wildlife Jewels hosted its Plant for Hummingbirds celebration in honor of National Hummingbird Day. Together with families and neighbors, volunteers installed 132 native pollinator plants, improving habitat for hummingbirds, monarch butterflies, and other pollinators.

After weeks of documenting entangled seabirds at Point La Jolla, a precious Brandt’s Cormorant finally became reachable. Meet Azurite and follow her journey from fishing gear entanglement to rescue and a second chance.
Wildlife Jewels Rescue Crew rescued a Brandt’s Cormorant entangled in fishing gear at La Jolla Cove and transported the bird to wildlife rehabilitation for care.
